Looks like a perfect library day. I have some trip planning to do, Gary has some online research to do and here we are. Very nice library and it has this perfect corner just for us. Note Gary is in his hoodie and has his foul weather gear on his chair. I don’t know why libraries turn down their air conditioners but they all seem a bit chilly.
There is also a cool memorial picture on the wall to a volunteer who also does wire art - of the bridges in the area. Made out of black wire. Really nice and a nice memorial.
On the other hand, while we were in the library, it stopped raining so we got our walk in - up a trail which was used by workers when they were building an aqueduct in the area. New York City needed water around the turn of the century and tapped into the water supply of Westchester Country where we are. Originally, they used local wells but, with no sewers, but, yikes, they had no sewers and the water sources soon became foul. New sources were needed and a $12.5 mill. dam was built mostly with Irish laborers who were paid a whopping $.75 - $1.00 for a 10-hour workday. Were families displaced? Yes, they were paid for their land but now had to find new homes and farms. But, New York had a reliable source of water which, would be rated as a fine Bordeaux if aqueduct water were rated. We walked over the dam to the other side.

Of course, you might guess that Gary and I might find a ‘slot canyon’ along the trail. Well, hardly, but we could see where they cut into the rock around here.
We might have had rain today and a lonely, dreary campground but on a sunny Sunday, here’s what the campground looks like. The beach and swimming area are packed.
The boats are out and many are roped together for more fun
The picnics are in full swing.
On Saturday there a large party of Indians with a band in the pavilion.
On Sunday it was a Peruvian party with a Peruvian band in the pavilion and the dancing was lively.
And, hey, Mickey was at one of the parties. Oh, look, it’s a girl.
This park is really used and enjoyed by all.
