Lake Havasu, AZ - Toys, Toys, Toys

Today was very much like yesterday. We worked during the day on projects, walked and got ready for the night’s show. I will say though, that as we walked through town, I noticed that the toy / people ratio was about even. 1:1. I’ve never seen so many toys: speed boats, fishing boats, sailboats, motorcycles, RV’s, hot rods, dune buggies, ultralights, balloons, ATV’s. You name it, it’s here in Lake Havasu. I think that Gary and I were the only ones without a toy - oops, while we might think of our RV as our home, others might think of it as a huge toy. The couple next to us in the campground, in their 30’s, had a sports car, a large pick-up, a speed boat, an RV and 2 motorized bikes. There were only 2 of them but look at the toys. See what I mean about the toy / people ratio? They had enough for Gary and me, too.

Sometimes I wonder about the younger generation that complains about never getting to retire: that they don’t make enough, that the Baby Boomers used up all the Social Security and all the Medicare, that they’ve got it rough. Well, here’s a clue, save a little bit of money for your future. Gary and I had 2 cheap bikes and that was it for our toys. We saved a lot and here we are.

There, that’s my rant for the day.

Now it’s time for a hike. The fireworks are being held in SARA park which also has some baseball diamonds, a rodeo grounds and lots of trails to hike. One of them is called ‘The Crack’ and is a bit of a slot canyon, which we love.

We took the high trail on the way out which ends at the lake and ‘The Crack’ trail on the way back. Gorgeous views all the way on the high trail

More great fireworks tonight.
