WDM, IA - Getting the RV ready To Go

We’re getting ready to go and Gary wanted to do some maintenance on the RV Go for it, I said that I was busy. Shucks, and I SO wanted to help him.

We had a seam on the roof where the fiberglass meets the aluminum and Gary wanted to reinforce this seam. On top of the RV? 12’ up? Not my job. Here he is working on it, swallowed by the leaves of the nearby oak. Tthen, I get to inspect it - by standing gingerly on a ladder clinging to the RV for dear life.

He also foumd a Man Cave in the RV. Actually, this is one of the storage bays underneath, in what is called the ‘basement’ of an RV. He’s looking for the meter which measures our gas tank. I’m thinking this might be an awfully good spot for him to do whatever it is that men do in their Man Caves. A TV would fit on the right hand side and he could set a small table to the side for chips and a soda. Pretty comfy, I’m thinking. What more could he ask for?

Finally, he spent 3 hours at least trying to find the serial number and all other numbers for our motor. They do not make it easy to find this information as if it’s a big secret. Finally, he found it on the front of the motor. Now, the motor in our RV is is the rear, under the bed. First he lifted the bed, then removed the covering over the motor, then used a mirror to see the numbers printed on the front of the motor. After he had found these, I crouched above him, aimed the camera at the mirror and tried to get the reverse image in the camera so we would have the number. In the evening, he printed out this reverse image, stood in front of the mirror and took a picture of the correct image.

Got this all? What a circus. I do not have a picture of Gary balanced over the motor with the mirror in his hand and me crouching over him with the camera in mine. Luckily, we didn’t laugh or we might have tumbled into the motor.

Our RV fills our driveway and luckily they cut the branches so we can drive in. You can see Gary in the shadows of the oak working on the roof. The temperatures reached 95+ with a ‘feels like’ temperature of 110 this day. Luckily, we had the oak. Do I have a picture of me on the ladder? Not a chance, it would be too blurry with all the shaking.
